Football 1946 - Women's Asphalt Grey Short Sleeve T-shirt
Brand Guts & Glory Sportswear
In 1933, after 13 years of limited integration since the National Football League’s inception in 1920, the NFL banned African-American athletes from participating in league play. The NFL was reintegrated in 1946 with the signing of Kenny Washington (#13/Halfback-singed March 21) and Woody Strode (#39/End-Signed May 7) to the Los Angeles Rams.
The All-American Football League which formed in 1946 as a rival league to the NFL, was more proactive in its recruitment of African-American players. In 1946, the Cleveland Browns signed both Bill Willis (#30/Guard-signed August 6) and Marion Motley (#76/Fullback-signed August 9) to the Cleveland Browns. The AAFL later merged with the NFL in 1950.
Our custom "Football 1946" t-shirt design celebrates these four pioneer African-American players who changed the game forever in 1946 by opening doors to others through their courage, sweat and sacrifice.
